A lovely art deco style brooch, circa 1930's. The pot metal mounting has a bronze wash for a soft, mellow patina. The half-oval shape of a flower gently flows into a long stem with three elongated straight and arched leaves. The enter holds a large, faceted oval, ruby glass stone, measuring one inch in length. The set is surrounded by a row of metal petals which extent to the outer edge which holds ten additional smaller oval ruby glass stones. All the sets are prong-set and open-back to allow the maximum of light penetration and glimmer. The brooch measures 3 1/2" in length, 2 1/4" in width and has a safety clasp mechanism. The piece is unmarked as to the maker, which is the usual case of this type of jewelry. Wonderful vintage condition.
