Information is scarce on this fairly obscure American jewelry designer. Mr Meltzer organized this jewelry business in New York likely in the 1930's because his production was limited to dress clips and buckles of that era. One source states he operated from 1934-1938.
This lovely dress clip consists of a branch of finely embossed leaves in polished brass. It is decorated with several sizes of wonderful dome-shaped glass cabochons in shades of emerald, ruby and blue. The clips measures 3 1/4" in length, 1 1/2" in width with attached clip. It is stamped "Ben Meltzer Inc NY" within a rectangular cartouche. There is a small ring on the end of the branch, so the piece could be transformed into a pendant. Wonderful condition with no damages. Rare, Beautiful and very wearable.
