Frank Pennino founded the Pennino Jewelry Company NYC in 1926 making watch cases and fine costume jewelry using quality Austrian rhinestones and crystals and has the look of actual gemstones that were mounted in 14k gold plate or sterling silver. The company was very popular in the 1940's, known for fine designs and workmanship. The company ceased operations in 1961.
This truly classic brooch, circa 1950, has a simple motif of flowing intertwining sterling silver wires creating a swag design. Each of the individual wire stems hold prong-set clear diamond rhinestones of various sizes representing a cascade of blossoms. The brooch measures 3 3/4" in length and 2" in height. Stamped "Pennino - Sterling", the brooch is in excellent condition; several of the smaller sets have darkened somewhat. Beautiful.
