The Hutschenreuther Company was founded in 1814 by C M Hutschenreuther (1794-1845) in Bavaria, Germany. In 1857 his son, Lorenz, established a porcelain factory in Selb. The companies expanded from 1902-1969 and during 2000 they have become part of the Rosenthal group.
This wonderful figure of the girl with butterfly is all white with a high glaze. The little girl is standing and gazing at a butterfly which is perched on her outstretched right hand. Her skirt appears to be fluttering in the breeze. This is part of Hutschenreuther's Art Deco series, Creative Moments, circa 1970's. The figurine measures 6 1/2" in height and is stamped in green with the Hutschenreuther Selb mark. There also two original paper labels. The base is also incised 'Achtziger' the designer. Hans Achtziger was the director of Hutschenreuther AG from 1961-1964 and later was head of the forms department. There are no cracks, or repairs; the extreme tip of one finger on her right hand is missing. The figurine has been priced accordingly.
