This wonderful chrome barrel (bank's) bank was issued by the Illinois National Bank & Trust Co., Rockford, Illinois.

Many banks issued these barrel banks as a form of advertising as well as a promotional tool to encourage individual saving. This bank measures 1 3/4" across and 2 3/4" in height. The end with the coin slot is painted red and has the wording 'Illinois National Bank & Trust Co. - Rockford Illinois - Member Federal Reserve System. The end with the keyed lock is painted green and has the wording "Save Your Coins and have Barrels of Money - Patented - Bankers Thrift Corporation - Chicago". The bank is in very good condition with bright chrome and paint. No dents to damage to the metal. The key to unlock the lid is missing.
