The Noritake Company was first registered in 1904 as Nippon Gomei Kaisha. In 1917 the name became Nippon Toki Kabushiki Toki. The "M in Wreath" mark is that of the Morimura Brothers, distributors with offices in New York. It was registered in 1918 and used from the early 1920's through 1941.

This lovely hand painted spoon holder, circa 1920-1930, has a beautiful floral motif which is the same on both sides. Pink and purple blossoms nestled among green leaves are framed in black and gold cartouches against a tan gold striped background with black and gold tracery border on the top. The trim and handles are gold decorated. The holder measures 8" in length, 2" in width and 2 1/4" in height. Stamped in green "Noritake - 'M' - Hand Painted - Made in Japan". There is no cracks, chips or repairs. Be a hit at your next buffet dinner, luncheon or afternoon tea. I have a tremendous variety of these spoon holders in my store.
