The Noritake Company was first registered in 1904 as Nippon Gomei Kaisha. In 1917 the name became Nippon Toki Kabushiki Toki. The "M in Wreath" mark is that of the Morimura Brothers, distributors with offices in New York. It was registered in 1918 and used from the early 1920's through 1941.
This lovely hand painted spoon holder, circa 1920-1930, has an inviting country sunset scene which is different on both sides. Painted with shimmering blue/gray exterior and orange interior and black and orange trim. On each handle is perched a orange and black bird. The holder measures 8" in length, 2" in width and 2 1/4" in height. Stamped in magenta "Noritake - 'M' - Hand Painted - Made in Japan". There is no cracks, chips or repairs. Be a hit at your next buffet dinner, luncheon or afternoon tea. I have a tremendous variety of these spoon holders in my store
