The fascination with leather post cards is still prevalent today as in the early 1900's. They were very popular to purchase and for the artistic to create their own unique designs. The artwork was burned into the leather and on occasion color was also added.
This eclectic grouping consists of both factory and home-made cards. "From Your True Lobster", "Two Peaches and a Lemon", "Having Gay Old Time", "Why Don't You Make Your Eyes Behave" and "We Would Make A Beautiful" comical cards are stamped 'W.S.Neal'. The five sport cards, "E.T.H.S", "Chicago", "Wisconsin", "Illinois" and "Indiana" have applied pendants and footballs and are very likely hand-crafted. The remaining two, "Greeting from Chicago" and "Love All" were probably factory produced. Years ago they were machine sewn to a piece of red cotton material and were probably placed in a frame for display. Condition is very good, some have had edges slightly trimmed.
