The Bing & Grondahl Company was established in 1853 by Grondahl, who was a figurine maker for the Royal Danish Porcelain Factory, and the Bing brothers, who were art and book dealers. In 1987 the company merged with its primary competitor, under the name Royal Copenhagen.
This lovely B&G cat figurine, circa 1970's, portrays a sitting cat with head slightly bent forward, front paws together and tail curled around his body. A very concentrated expression as though it is patiently waiting and watching for a mouse to suddenly appear. Overall medium gray in color with white lower face, chest and paws; pink nose with pinkish tint on paws. The figure stands 5" in height. Stamped in green with the three Royal Towers of Copenhagen and "B&G Copenhagen Porcelain Made in Denmark", circa 1970-1983. Also model number 1876 and artists initials KN. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Lovely figurine.
