The Royal Ivy pattern was manufactured by the Northwood Glass Company, in 1889. Made in non-flint, clear with frosting (acid finish), rubina and frosted (acid finish) rubina. Several other combinations were created as experimental pieces.
This wonderful covered sugar bowl is the rubina with frosted finish. The ivy leaves are clear against the swirled frosted background. The upper portion of the base and lower rim of the lid are rubina in color. The lid is adorned with a ribbed, tear-drop finial. The piece measures 5 3/4" in height. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; several minor flakes on the inside top edge of the base and rim of cover, all hidden when cover is in place. Beautiful piece of Royal Ivy pattern glass.
