Hand painted porcelain expresses the emotional connection between the artist and subject. This lovely set of 3 gold hand painted decorative plates shows the artist's passion and understanding of nature's beauty expressed through wildflowers and insects. Executed in a small home-studio environment, circa 1890's, they are each delicately executed on unmarked porcelain blanks and signed and dated by the artist.
The motifs of this set is different floral each with a flying insect, which I think is a honey bee on their quest of securing nectar for honey and pollination of the plants. The plates measure 6 1/4" across with a wide reticulated border which would be lovely laced with ribbon for hanging. Signed by the artist on the back of each plate "NSM for CPB 1893". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; minor gold wear of the verge of the plates caused by stacking in storage over the years. There are two additional sets of 3 in my store. Unique and lovely
