Hand Painted china is beautiful no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional decorating studio or by skilled individuals in a home studio environment. During the late 1800's and early 1900's this became a favorite hobby of many American ladies who would purchase china blanks from various companies and create their own works of art.
This lovely hand painted cabinet plate, circa 1920's, was executed in a home studio. The motif consists of a ring of pastel pink roses, blue-green foliage and gold scrolls encircling the plate against a medium blue and pale creamy yellow background. The plate is signed by the artist "Leila".
The coup-style plate measures 8 1/2" across. The back-stamp is a crown with laurel leaves surrounding a crest and the initials P.T. Bavaria. This denotes the Tirschenreuther Porcelain Factory, operational from 1838-1927, when it was taken over by the Hutschereuther company. There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
