Hand painted china is so beautiful and unique no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or small home studio environment, the end result is what really matters. This fabulous hand-decorated china punch bowl incorporates not only the beauty of fruit, flowers and foliage, but also a taste of Art Nouveau stylism.
The exterior motif is a continuous panorama of clusters of white blackberry blossoms and gorgeous blackberry fruit nestled among thorn laden stems covered with variegated colored foliage. The interior motif continues the blackberry theme, but is interspersed among Art Nouveau scrolls and patterns in pastel shades of mauve, blue-green and tan, creating a uniquely artful design. The embossed rim of the bowl is accented in pastel shades and highlighted with brushed gold. This beautiful piece of artwork is signed and dated on the base by the artist "M.E Egelston 4/98".
The white-ware blank is marked "T & V France Depose", circa 1892-1907. Gustave Vogt and Emilien Tressemanes partnered in the early 1880's. In 1891 they purchased two small porcelain factories in Faubourg Montjovis (Limoges) and produced high quality white-ware for export to the USA. They sold the company in 1919.
The punch bowl rests on a raised collar base. It measures 13" across the top, 5 3/4" in depth and 7" across the base. There are no cracks, chips, repairs; some very slight wear to the enamel and gold decoration. Ready to grace your table for your favorite punch or healthy leafy green salad.
