Hand painted porcelain is so beautiful no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or small home studio environment. This lovely seven-piece dessert service was skillfully decorated in a home studio, circa 1915, with pieces signed "Parkhurst" by the artist. The old adage "less is more" is especially true with this simple, yet timeless, one-of-a-kind, "Shamrock" motif. The artful use of three and groups of three is repeated on each item. The motif consists of groups of three pastel green shamrocks, outline in gold; individual gold shamrocks, outlined in black; all with wide gold borders edged in black.
The serving plate measures 9 1/4" across and 10" across the cut-in handles. It is stamped "Silesia". The individual dessert plates measure 6 7/8" across and are stamped "HR Hutschenreuther Selb Bavaria & Favorite". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; very minor gold wear. There are other pieces of this pattern in my store to build the service of your choice.
