Hand painted porcelain is so beautiful no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or small home studio environment. This lovely oval serving platter was skillfully decorated in a home studio, circa 1915, and signed "Parkhurst" by the artist. The old adage "less is more" is especially true with this simple, yet timeless, one-of-a-kind, "Shamrock" motif. The artful use of three and groups of three is repeated on this piece. The motif consists of groups of three pastel green shamrocks, outlined in gold; individual gold shamrocks, outlined in black; and a wide gold border edged in black.
The platter measures 13" in length and 8 1/2" in width with cut-in handles. The piece is stamped "T&V Limoges France". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; very minor gold wear. There are other items of this pattern in my store to build the service of your choice.
