Hand Painted porcelain is so beautiful no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or small home studio environment. This lovely round, footed serving bowl was skillfully decorated in a home studio, circa 1915, and signed "Parkhurst" by the artist. The old adage "less is more" is especially true with this simple, yet timeless, one-of-a-kind, "Shamrock" motif. The artful use of three and groups of three is repeated on this piece. The motif consists of groups of three pastel green shamrocks, outlined in gold; individual gold shamrocks, outlined in black; and a wide gold border and knob feet edged with black.
This round footed serving bowl measures 9" across and 2 7/8" in height. It is decorated on the interior and exterior of the bowl. It is stamped "Haviland France" on the base. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; very minor gold wear. There are other items of this pattern in my store to build the service of your choice.
