Hand painted porcelain is so beautiful no matter if executed in a factory decorating department, professional studio or small home studio environment. This lovely eighteen piece luncheon set was skillfully decorated in a home studio, circa 1915, with pieces signed "Parkhurst" by the artist. The old adage "less is more" is especially true with this simple, yet timeless, one-of-a-kind, "Shamrock" motif. The artful use of three and groups of three is repeated on each item. The motif consists of groups of three pastel green shamrocks, outlined in gold; individual gold shamrocks, outlined in black; all with a wide gold border edged in black.
The luncheon plates measure 8 5/8" across and are stamped "HR Hutschenreuther Selb Bavaria - Favorite". The cups measure 2 1/8" in height; 3 1/4" across and (5) are stamped "Favorite Bavaria" and (1) is stamped "UNO Favorite Bavaria". The saucers measure 5 1/4" across and are not stamped with a maker. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Very minor gold wear. With the purchase of this lot, an extra luncheon plate and two extra saucers will be included free of charge. There are other items of this pattern in my store to build the service of choice.
