Glass making in the Czech lands has a thousand years, uninterrupted history in creativity and craftsmanship. Czech glass making held its' dominance through the early 20th century and until the Nazi invasion of 1938, when world markets disappeared in the smoke and ruin of World War II.
This lovely deep ruby to clear cut vase, circa 1920, consists of bulls-eyes, oval panels, crosscut fans, star rays, as well as other patterns cut through the ruby overlay to reveal the clear crystal below. The vase measures 6 1/8" in height, 3 1/4" across the top and 2 3/4" across the base. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; several tiny nicks along the bottom edge and several scratches on the interior of the vase near the top edge, visible in photos.
