This lovely hand-painted cabinet plate was executed in a home-studio environment during the early 1900's. It is beautifully decorated with branches of lush, red, ripe cherries nestled among shaded green and brown leaves against a background of blue/green, apricot and pale creamy yellow. It is signed by the artist "Coombe".
The gently scalloped plate measures 7 5/8" across and was manufactured by Jaeger & Co., Bavaria, circa 1912-1917. The combination mark indicates the white-ware was imported and distributed by the Geo H Bowman Co., which was formed in 1907 in New York as a foreign business corporat. The company operated in New York and Ohio until at least the last 1920's. There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
