In 1884 two brothers, Alfred and Fredrick Johnson, purchase a defunct pottery known as the Charles Street Works in Hanley, England. By the 1890's, Johnson Brothers may have been the largest earthenware manufacturer in the world.

This lovely set of 4 salads plates in the Liberty pattern are a soft brown chintz floral motif, circa mid-1950's. This pattern was produced for Tiffany & Co., which was a practice for favored customers during the 1930-1960's period. The square plates measure 7 1/2" across with a ribbon scalloped border. Fully marked with black stamp. The set of 4 have no cracks, chips or repairs. I have a fifth plate with a minor under-rim flake that will be included with the set.
