Walter Lenox and Jonathan Cox founded the Ceramic Art Company (CAC), in Trenton, New Jersey, in 1889. When Cox left the company in 1906, the name was changed to Lenox Inc. Known for producing high quality table-ware and gift-ware. In 1981 the company founded Lenox Collections offering exquisite bisque porcelain sculptures and decorative accents.
This lovely American painted lady butterfly is from the natures' beautiful butterflies collection. The magnificent details show the butterfly perched on a open iris flower with bud. This species is found throughout North America. They live in flowery habitats, usually in the mountains. The butterfly is high gloss in shades of orange, blue, brown, tan, rust, black and white. The matt finish iris and leaves are shaded pastel purple, yellow and green. The sculpture was issued in 1993. It measures 4" in height and 4" in length. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; original box is unavailable.
