The "RS" is derived from the founder, Reinhold Schlegelmilch, but it was the work of his sons, Arnold and Ehrhard that made the mark famous. With factories in Suhl and Tillowitz, a majority of their production was exported from 1892 until the beginning of World War I. The Suhl factory closed before the end of World War I; the Tillowitz factory remained operational until the beginning of World War II.

This lovely plate has two huge chrysanthemum flowers on long stems and large leaves as a central motif. The flowers are a combination of pastel shades of pale gray, pink, yellow and white creating a beautiful image. The long slender stems and large leaves are muted shades of green, tan and gray. The wide outer border of the plate is a gold moire pattern encased within a gold band and gold trim. The green mark is the wreath and star and "R.S. Germany" The plate measures 8 1/4" across and has no cracks, chips or repairs. Lovely floral image.
