Founded in 1895 in Chicago, Illinois, the Pickard China Company rapidly became one of the premier decorating companies in the country. Originally importing blanks from foreign manufacturers until 1938 when they developed their own translucent china.
This lovely hand painted cabinet plate is decorated with a wild rose motif. The large five pedal blossoms and opening buds are soft blended shades of light to medium pink with detailed light to dark green foliage and thorns. The muted background is primarily a very pastel creamy shade with subdued pink highlights. The gently scalloped plate has a gold edge and several gold adornments. The plate measures 8 1/4" across and is marked with the round brown decal mark, circa 1905-1910, "W A Pickard - Handpainted China". Artist signed "Wight" for Phillip Wight who worked for Pickard from 1905-1912. There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
