White's Art Company, largely a family business of three sisters, Ida, Sarah and Ellen started in 1914 and continued until 1923. Identified as "china decorators" the business was largely on the student side and therefore few examples bearing the red triangle mark have survived. They were in competition with the best decorators of the era, Pickard, Stouffer, Brauer, etc. and had several of Pickard's artists work for them for a time.
This beautifully decorated cabinet plate has clusters of apple blossoms in shades of pastel pink and white with shaded green leaves clinging to brown stems. There are six distinctly different apple blossom clusters against a muted background of light green and cream surrounding the center of the plate. The outer border is a medium band of pink edged with narrow gold bands. The plate measures 8 5/8" across and is artist signed "Blainc". The base is stamped with the red triangle mark "White's Art Co, - Chicago - Hand Painted" and the manufacturer of the blank "Haviland France". There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
