The original company formed in 1904 rose to prominence for its exquisite, Dresden-type figurines and hand-painted birds, vases and an assortment of household items. Started by a group of salesmen who were interested in the business of reselling porcelain products. In 1937, Fritz Gerold, was appointed company head and earned world-wide recognition. During the 1960's, Gerold died, and the company began to have severe problems resulting in bankruptcy.
