Gebruder Heubach "Oriental Lady Carrying a Woven Basket" Figurine
Heubach Brothers, a German Company, was founded by Georg Christoph and Philip Jakob Heubach in Lichte, Thuringia, in 1843. In 1938 the company was forced to close and file bankruptcy. During the late 1800's Gebruder Heubach made figurines and decorative objects from bisque porcelain.
This is lovely figurine of a young Oriental lady. Attired in a floor length mint green kimono decorated with gold medallions and a purple sash. Her coal black hair, dark eyes and fair facial features are beautiful. Both arms are in an upright position and in her right hand she is balancing a woven bowl or basket. The figurine measures 5 3/4" in height and is fully marked with the Heubach "Sunburst" mark, registered in 1882. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Wonderful figure.
