The Hutschenreuther company was founded in 1814 by C.M. Hutschenreuther (1794-1845) in Bavaria, Germany. In 1857 his son established a porcelain factory in Selb. The company expanded from 1902-1969.
This adorable figurine depicts a nude Child lying on this back with arms and legs outstretched while balancing a gold colored ball on this right foot. The figure expresses sincere innocence and childish playfulness in an elegant form. The figure measures 3 3/4" in length and 3" in height. It is stamped in red "foreign" and impressed "8880 or 8888". During the late 1940's during the post World War II era this type mark was used by German companies before East and West Germany marks were used. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. Lovely.
