Henry P. Elias was a silversmith, jeweler and watchmaker working during the mid-1800's in the Cincinnati, Ohio, area. He was later associated with H. P. Elias and Brothers.

The term coin silver usually refers to the silver flatware and hollow-ware made before 1870. The silver content is less than that of sterling silver which contains 92.5% silver; coin silver containing 90% silver.

This wonderful large tablespoon, circa 1855, has an up-turned tip'd pinched fiddle-back handle, long pointed shoulders and oval pointed bowl. It has the the original owners initials "A M C" monogrammed on the handle. Not stamped "coin" it is stamped "H P Elias" in a rectangle. Wonderful vintage condition with minor bowl bruising. The tablespoon measures 8 1/2" in length and weighs 2 ounces. There are two (2) identical tablespoons available for sale; prices individually. Great early serving spoons.
