Gorham of Providence, RI traces its beginnings to the early 1800's. They purchased the Whiting Mfg. Co. and William B Durgin Co. in 1924; Alvin Silver in 1928 and Graff Washburne & Dunn in 1961. Presently the firm is owned by Dansk.
This lovely early set of 6 teaspoons, circa 1832, is the Tipt pattern, which is very similar to the Fiddle-back handle design of the mid-1800's. Each are monogrammed with the original owners name "E Preston" and are stamped "Sterling" as well as the Gorham Hallmark of a Lion, Anchor & G. They measure 6" in length and weigh 3.4 ounces. Excellent vintage condition. Great set of early Gorham teaspoons.
