Numerous porcelain manufactures in the Limoges area had decorating studios in Limoges, Paris and Germany before exportation of the finished product to overseas markets.
This lovely bird game plate with transfer design features a large brown and black bird with yellow neck feathers against a colorful background of shaded pastel colors of yellow, blue, pink and green. A tall clump of medium brown wild grass emerges on the right side of the plate. The plate with gently contoured edge, embossed design and gold trim measures 9 3/4" across and is drilled for hanging. The red circular mark and symbol reads "Limoges France C. et J.", is circa 1880-1914. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; moderate wear on the gold trim.
