Hand decorated china is so lovely and varied in design, no matter is executed by the porcelain factory, professional or home-studio environment.
This lovely set of 5 hand painted plates would serve wonderfully for salad or luncheon. The plates measure 8 1/2" across with a detailed embossed outer rim. The decorative motif consists of two distinct designs, one a branch of shaded blue floral with brown stems against the white background and the other a branch of soft brown floral with gold stems against a peach background. Both groups of floral are outlined with gold as well as the outer edge of the plate. The plates are stamped "Limoges France" in green and "Limoges PHL France" in red. The red stamp denoted Peter H Leonard, New York, a porcelain importer for France from 1890-1914. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; minor enamel and gold wear. Nice set.
