Josiah Wedgwood & Sons "Prairie Flowers" Pattern Footed Cups & Saucers - Set of 2
Josiah Wedgwood (& Sons, Ltd), Burslem, circa 1759, Etruria, circa 1769 and Barlaston, circa 1940. Formerly in partnership with Thomas Whieldon. The Wedgwood mark signifies superior quality and workmanship.
This outstanding pattern is called "Prairie Flowers", circa 1928-1950. The white blanks have a wide border of pale pastel yellow which is profusely decorated with raised flowers and grasses. The wildflowers include Primrose, Cornflower, Bluebells, Asters and Poppies to mention a few. The vivid natural colors of pink, yellow, blue, violet, orange, red, green, etc. are outstanding. A simple turquoise rim completes the item. The marking is the Portland Vase Mark "Wedgwood - Made in England", with pattern name "Prairie Flowers" and pattern # W1758. Marks may vary, some also include "Bone China".
These lovely cups and saucers measure thus: the saucers are 5 3/4" across; the footed cups are 4" across the bowl portion and 2 1/8" in height. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; a few very minor utensil marks. Have other items of this fantastic pattern in my store.
