Glass making in Tyrone has a history going back as far as 1771, when Benjamin Edwards founded a company in county Tyrone, Ireland. In march 2010 Tyrone Crystal ceased production.
This lovely heavy, cut crystal piece has an overall pattern of diamonds and elongated ribs surrounding the tapered 6" vase. Near the top on one side is acid-etched "50 Harrah's 1937 years 1987". Founded by William F Harrah in 1937 as a bingo parlor, Harrah's grew into the largest casino enterprise in the United States. These vases were probably presentation pieces for special clients and personnel to commemorate their first 50 years in business. The vase still has the original foil label "Tyrone Crystal - Made in Ireland". There are no cracks, chips, scratches or repairs.
