For those "bird watchers" and/or "game plate" collectors this beauty is for you. The motif consists of two game birds done in shades of brown and white against a background of buttery yellow and shades of medium to dark green accented with ground foliage.
The plate is stamped in green "Limoges France" and "L.R.L." with a crown. designating Lazeyras, Rosenfeld & Lehman a decorating factory during the 1920's, known for portrait and figural works of art on porcelain. The decorating technique used was part transfer and part hand-painting. The plate measures 9 1/2" across with a sculptured shape and embossed arches and scrolls surrounding the border which is edged with gold. The underside is drilled for ease of hanging and carries the name of the artist, difficult to decipher, but appears to be 'Brahiez". There are no cracks, chips or repairs.
