John Maddock & Son White Ironstone, Oval, Covered Tureen - Circa 1855
John Maddock & Son, New Castle and Dale Hall, Burslem, Staffordshire Potteries, circa 1855 - 1870. Formerly J Maddock, circa 1842 - 1855.
This early, heavy, white ironstone covered tureen is oval in shape and rest on a raised collar base. It measures 12" in length, including handles; 7 1/4" across and 6 1/4" in height to top of finial on the lid. The handles and finial are impressive draped leaves or perhaps flower design. The mark "John Maddock & Son" is impressed on the underside edge of the base. There are no cracks, chips, repairs or discoloration; overall light age related crazing.
