Celia Sebiri, New York, (1913-2006) enjoyed a jewelry designing career that spanned more than thirty years from the 1960's - 1990's. She was instrumental in paving the bridges between costume and fine jewelry and was a winner of the Cody award in 1973 for her jewelry designing. Her hand-crafted pieces were sold in such prestigious stores as Neiman Marcus, Saks, Sakowitz and high-end boutiques. She also designed for Avon in 1987. Her daughter, Karen, worked with her designing works of art.
This lovely pair of clip earrings, circa 1970's, consists of a large round faux white pearl in a brass bezel mounting. The shimmering pearl is surrounded with an inlay of crushed onyx. The gently scalloped shaped earrings measure 1 1/2" in length and 1 1/4" in width. Each earring is stamped "Sebiri" as well as being hand-signed "Celia Sebiri"; the brass fittings have their original patina. Excellent condition. Great set from an American designer.
