The Bradley & Hubbard Mfg. Company was a firm which produced metal accessories for the home. The operated from 1860 until the early part of the 1900's. Their products reflected both the Arts & Crafts and Art Nouveau movements.
This wonderful brass decorated desk inkwell is from the Art & Crafts period, circa 1900 - 1915. The metal base, measuring 4" square, is supported by four ball-shaped feet. The original, heavy clear glass inkwell, measuring 2" square and 2 1/4" in height, is held in place by a simple frame-work of bars and is covered by a flat, hinged lid. The base and lid is decorated with a band consisting of three rows of small, square indentations enameled with black and white paint. The stamped mark on the base in a triangular arrangement is "Bradley & Hubbard Mfg. Co." and an Aladdin Lamp. The enamel decoration shows wear in several locations; the brass has an original uncleaned finish with great patina.
