Victorian silver figural napkin rings, circa 1880 -1900, are beautiful and fun to collect. These silver plated works of art are whimsical, as well as practical. During the Victorian era, they were a show of status, as well as being functional. Each member of the family, or guest, would have their own figural napkin ring, usually representing their passions or hobbies.

This wonderful large ring rest on the back of a 3-dimensional figure of a wild fox and some low shrubs he is running through in the wild out-of-doors. The ring is heavily engraved with a variety of geometric designs that surrounds and open, arched cartouche which would hold the owners initials; the cartouche is blank on this ring. The raised base of this creation is 1 3/4" by 2 5/8" and is embossed on the top with ground cover and floral representing outdoor terrain. The base is stamped "Derby Silver Co - Derby Ct - Quadruple Plate - 364". There are no damaged or missing components. The condition is excellent with old unpolished patina. Great item.
