Baccarat Glass was established in 1765 by the Bishop of Metz, who wanted to encourage industry in the little village of Baccarat, some 250 miles east of Paris, France. Baccarat is famous world-wide for the creation of wonderful crystal paperweights, superb crystal glass tableware and lead crystal sculptures of animals and birds. Synonymous with elegance and class.
This lovely and simplistic designed vase is called "Bouton D'Or" or "Buttercup". Composed of extremely heavy crystal it creates a rounded triangular shape with beautifully formed ribs that have cut channels at the angles. It is listed as "retired" from production. Standing 7 3/4" in height and approximately 3 1/2" across the middle it presents an impressive image. Marked "Baccarat" near the base as well as the acid mark Baccarat insignia on the base. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; there is some wear marks on the base as well as several tiny marks and scratches on the sides from loving use over time. These minor flaws in no way detract from its beauty. Priced accordingly. Missing original box.
