This Danish statue of the "Little Mermaid" is known world-wide. The original bronze statue was unveiled at Langelinie in 1913. It was commissioned by Carl Jacobsen, founder of New Carlsberg Breweries, in 1909. The sculptor was Edward Ericsen who used his wife, Eline Ericsen, as the model.
This fabulous porcelain depiction of the nude "Little Mermaid", circa 1969-1974, stands almost 9" in height, is back-stamped in green with the Crown and Denmark (with a slash over the M), over three blue wavy lines. The model #4431 and artist initials YB. The back-side of the rock is inscribed "Edward Eriksen Sculp". There are no cracks, chips or repairs; near mint. Super piece.
