This lovely hand-painted cabinet plate, circa 1915, was decorated by D'Arcy's Studio of Kalamazoo, Michigan, which was a serious competitor of Pickard Studio of Chicago, Illinois.
The china blank for this lovely plate is stamped Haviland France in green, a mark used from 1894 - 1931. The design is branches of currants in shades of rust, yellow and green suspended on brown stems and leaves in shades of the currant fruit. The background is pale pastel yellow, pink and dark rust with a narrow gold edge. The plate measures 7 1/2" across and carries the artists signature, Ranny. There are no cracks, chips or repairs; some gold wear on the edge. A lovey plate created by an early 1900's American decorating studio.
