The Castlecliff Company was founded in 1918 by Clifford Burst and Joseph Bobley. The Castlecliff mark was first used in 1941. The advertising slogan was "the talked about jewelry" At some point in the late 1970's, Castlecliff became part of Carnegie Industries, Inc. Sterling Castlecliff pieces are a good investment.
This wonderful classic style brooch, circa 1940's, has a unfoiled, open-back, emerald rhinestone in the center and four closed-back diamond rhinestones within the gracefully flowing sterling silver design. Resembles the classic designs of Joseff jewelry of the same era. The brooch measures 1 1/2" across and has a safety clasp mechanism. It is stamped "Castlecliff" and "Sterling". Great vintage condition with nice patina on sterling.
