Fantastic 3-dimensional figural brooch/pendant created by a listed Mexican silversmith, circa 1940 - 1950. The sides of the brooch are rolled inward creating a framing effect for the figural components which are two separate birds perched on a study branch, an individual grape leaf and separate bunch of grapes in the center of the motif. These elements, created independently from the base, creates great depth and effect. The brooch measures 2 1/2" in length and 1 1/2" in height and has a safety clasp mechanism. There is a loop on the reverse so you can wear the item as a pendant with your favorite sterling chain. The stamped marking is "925 - Taxco Sterling - Hecho en Mexico - JS in a circle" This signature is listed in a Mexican Sterling hallmark book but the artisan is unknown. There are no damages; the brooch has a deep patina which has taken years to develop. Super piece of Mexican silver craftsmanship.
