The Royal Bayreuth Company was founded in 1794 in Tettau, Bavaria. Always recognized for manufacturing fine dinnerware of superior quality. The company is still in existence producing quality porcelain items.
This set of two dinner/service plates are the "Chatham" pattern which features a beautiful central floral array of spring tulips and anemones in pastel colors of pink, yellow, blue and violet accented with shades green leaves and other foliage. Another wide inter-ring is composed of smaller floral bouquets, interspersed with elaborate gold scrolls and geometric designs. The slightly scalloped edge has a heavy gold embossed beaded design. The plates measure 10 3/4" across and are stamped in full color "Royal Bayreuth - Bavaria - Chatham". This mark is circa 1968 - 1980. The plates are also stamped "Bavaria" and "Germany".
