Beneditto Panetta immigrated to the United States from Naples in 1901 and found work as a platinum jeweler in New York City. Later he worked for Trifari and Pennino companies before founding the Panetta company in 1945 with a reputation of producing fine jewelry. The company was sold in the 1980's and closed in 1995.
This classic and lovely brooch, circa 1960's, consists of layers of over-lapping leaf shapes with gold-tone, rope borders and stems, each with a silver-tone liner studded with small diamond rhinestones. It has the definite look of fine jewelry. It measures 2" in length and height and has a safety clasp mechanism. Stamped "Panetta" with the copyright symbol. Near mint condition with lots of sparkle.
