William Hobe immigrated to the United States from France in the first part of the twentieth century. The original family owned-and-operated Hobe Cie jewelry company which began in 1927 and was sold in the late 1990's or 2000. The Hobe mark is still being used today.
This beautiful sterling silver brooch, circa 1940's, is is the form of a floral bouquet consisting of two large flowers with four elongated leaves, the stems for are secured with a wide ribbon. It measures an impressive 3 1/2" in length and 2" in width. It is stamped "Hobe Sterling" on a triangle cartouche; this mark was in use from 1941 - 1947. In near mint condition with nice patina.
