A wonderful mold-blown, royal blue glass cigar humidor, circa 1890 - 1910. Could also be used as a candy/nut jar or as a beautiful vanity accessory to hold make-up products for the lady of the house.
The humidor/covered jar measures 8" high to the top of the lid and 4 3/4" across the base. The base has a blown-out ring at the base and near the top to serve as a ledge for the lid to rest upon. The lid has a lovely domed finial that is edged with gold as is the top edge of the base. The heavy white enamel decoration of a single Cherub or Putti on the base is surrounded by floral and foliage that resembles Queen Anne lace. The lid also has a spray in the same design. The royal blue glass with the pure white enamel design is fabulous and reminds one of the Mary Gregory designs of the era. There are no cracks, chips, repairs or enamel wear; very minor roughness on the inside edges of the base and lid which may have been the result of grinding done during the finishing process; minor gold wear.
