Hand painted porcelain is so beautiful no matter if done in a factory, professional decorating studio or a small home-studio environment. The overall quality of the piece is what really matters. This beautiful charger plate is the product of a fine porcelain blank that was expertly decorated in a home-studio.
The blank is "Limoges France" with a arrow separating the two words. This is the mark of the Laviloette Company, circa 1896 - 1905. The charger, which is 12" across, has a wonderful embossed design scalloped border. The outer area of the charger is decorated with pink and red apple blossoms, shaded green branches of leaves against a pastel green background. The bunches of floral are tied together by ribbons of scrolls and cross-hatch designs of applied gold paint. The underside is fortunately signed and dated by the artist "A.W. - Feb. 27, '98". There are no cracks or repairs; minor gold wear; the underneath rim has a flake off the inside edge, which in no way affects the beauty of this creation (see photo).
