Stunning, circa 1940's, Cockatoo figural brooch. Unmarked as to the maker, it is very similar to the Cockatoo design used on the Coro duette brooch.
The Cockatoo measures 3 3/4" in length and 1 3/4" in width and has a safety clasp. A bright rhodium finish, the body is encrusted with small diamond rhinestones. The perch as well as the bird's beak, wing and several long tail feathers are enameled in shades of yellow, green and blue. His eye is a small ruby rhinestone and a large, prong-set, emerald green set is suspended below the perch and surrounded by a tail feather. There are no damages to the metal or missing rhinestones; some missing enamel especially on the tail feathers. A great early figural bird brooch.
