The A.H. Heisey & Co. was founded in 1895 in Newark, Ohio. From the inception of the business, Heisey glassware was often advertised to be the finest crystal in America that was made by hand. The company ceased operations in 1957. During the 1930's - 1950's the company produced various animal and human figures in the form of stemware and figures.
The wonderful figurine "Mallard Duck -Wings Down", circa 1947 - 1955, was one of three types made: wings half, wings up & wings down. The wings down form is the most scarce. The figures measures 4 1/2" high and 4 1/2" from tip of bill to tip of tail; marked with the Heisey "H" on the base. When marked it appears on the left side near the front. There are no cracks, chips or repair; minor rough spot on back of figure which is barely noticeable. A rare find in marked Heisey crystal figurines. ONLY ONE of the pictured figures remains available for sale.
